MetroPAIX extends the PAIX Internet exchange infrastructure beyond the walls of a PAIX facility by connecting strategic, in-metro, Layer 2 switch fabrics together into one virtual exchange. MetroPAIX gives participants the opportunity to exchange Internet traffic with those colocated in other MetroPAIX facilities as if each were in the same site. Most importantly, these connectivity options are achieved through an existing switch port.
This seamless connectivity instantly increases the value proposition of each independent location, giving all participants a virtual presence anywhere in the MetroPAIX metro. As a result, Internet-centric companies connected to the MetroPAIX fabric from their existing colocation facilities, minimize the operating costs for circuits to several Internet exchanges, redundant colocation and power expenses, additional technical staff, or the capital costs associated with additional edge routers. |
